Pittsburg Pioneer Days, which started in 1973, draws thousands of people into Historic Downtown Pittsburg. The festival was named in honor of the Pioneering Spirit of Pittsburg/Camp County.
The events fall on the third weekend of September. On Friday, A health fair starts off the day, merchants offer sales, local banks offer a hot dog lunch and homemade ice cream. A wine tasting event and the carnival lights up the night.
On Saturday, arts, crafts and retail vendors line the main downtown street and a wide variety of food is available at the food court – everything from cotton candy to turkey legs to barbecue. Saturday activities also include the parade, live entertainment on the Courthouse Stage and kids activities, and Games. There is a biker run, Cowboy Shoot out, Chicken Scratch Bingo.
This year the Carroll Shelby Car clubs will be the Grand Mashal and will host a Show & Shine after the Parade.
